All sport education students in Azerbaian universities have to pass the
Zurkhaneh sports course as a compulsory training program. It is a great
success for the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation and the
Azerbaijan Zurkhaneh Sports Federation.
Seyyed Hadi Arabi, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Zurkhaneh Sports Federation said,” developing the zurkhaeh sports has been put on the agenda for the authorities of the Azerbaijan Zurkhaneh Sports Federation. To acheive this, a training committee has been well established.
The committee consists of two sections of instruction and education the first section of which i.e. teaching is of importance for us.” “In this section, principles, services and contemporary history of the Zurkhaneh sports are to be taught “, he added.
Arabi, then, told about founding Zurkhaneh sports in the self-ruling country of Nakhjavan and said: “We aim to host an international event in Ganjeh – hometown of Pouria Vali and Nezami Ganjavi with coordination of the International Federation.” Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Zurkhaneh Sports Federation added:”Our major problem is now the lack of Zurkhaneh in Baku.
We have negotiated with the International Federation to meet such requirement so that we can construct a Zurkhaneh in Baku.” About Iran’s presence in the Asian championship held in Bangladesh, Arabi stated: “I think the Iranian team has declined, compared to the past. However, I was glad to see it in the Bangladesh championship, as Iran’s attendance in at Asian and World competitions can enhance athletes’ motivation.”
