Lithuania Host the 2nd European Junior Zurkhaneh Sports Championship

“The 2nd European Zurkhaneh Sports and Pahlavani Wrestling Championship is to be held on July, 1st-6th, 2012 in Palanga-Lithuania. It will be attended by 10 European countries”.

Some 72 Zurkhaneh athletes from ten countries namely, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Estonia, Belarus, Denmark, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Finland will be participating in the 2nd European Zurkhaneh sports championship. The 5th TAFISA games and the second European Junior Zurkhaneh sports championship opening ceremony will be kicked off on July-1st,2012 .

IZSF Media; The IZSF competition board committee will be starting the event with the athletes-teams registration, weigh-in, and Zurkhaneh sports official training course. The competition will be closed with athletes medal ceremony in three different category groups; individual events, team events, and the pahlavani wrestling event. The junior Zurkhaneh sports events, which are underway at the palanga sports complex, will run until Friday-July,06,2012.

Azerbaijan the champion of the 1st European championship, Belarus the host of the 2011 European Junior Championship, Ukraine and Lithuania are the strongest teams in this upcoming championship in Palanga.

According to the IZSF technical committee; The 2nd European Zurkhanehs sports event will be organized in accordance with the junior technical conditions and the most technical regulation of IZSF (International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation). “only athletes born between 1992-1995 are allowed to participate in this competition”.

According to the IZSF competition rules and regulation; Zurkhaneh club or Meel 3kg, club joggling or Meel-Bazi .5kg, Shield lifting or Sang 15kg (30kg pair), Bow and Chain lifting or Kabaddeh 12kg, and the Pahlavani-Wrestling or koshti pahlavani weight categories are as follows; 50-60kg, 60-70kg, 70-80kg, 80-90kg, and +90kg.

The 1st European Junior Zurkhaneh Sports championship was held at the polytechnic university of Minsk sport complex in 2011.
