Iran Made its Third Championship
In the third Asian zurkhaneh sports championship held on 22nd – 30th July 2011 in Dhaka with the presence of 13 countries, the Iranian team could win the championship in the face of stiff competition.
Competitions of the 3rd Asian zurkhaneh sports championship began on July 28 in the Stadium .
in Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh, with the presence of 110 athletes from the countries of Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, South Korea, Iraq, Nepal and India. Coincident with the Asian event, the 4th World Congress of the Zurkahneh sports was held on July 29, with representatives from 35 countries.
At the end of team competitions of the 3rd Asian zurkhaneh sports championship, Iran could win the championship with 1172 score, Tajikistan was the second rank with 1020, and Nepal and Afghanistan took over collectively the third place with 973 and 824, respectively. Moreover, the Iraqi Zurkahneh national team was in the 4th place with 792 score. Teams of Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Korea and India were in the 5th to 8th places, with 423, 406, 393 and 338 scores, respectively.
In the individual section of Zurkahneh sports, Sang, Kabadeh, Charkh e Teez, Charkh, Meel, Heavy Meel, Iran again gained the sportsmanship, and silver and bronze medals went to other teams. In Sang and Kabadeh, the differences of Indian and Tajik athletes with Iranian athletes were only 1 and 7 scores, respectively.
In wrestling championship, Iranian athlete lost two gold medals, so Afghanis, Iraqis, and Tajik wrestlers and their teams could gain the gold medal in this tournament.
In the wrestling championship, Iran with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals became the champion. Tajikistan with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals stood the second. In the final competition, Iranian wrestler in +90 weight beat the Tajik athlete.
In the competitions held in team and individual skills (Charkh chamani, Charkh Tiz, MeelBazi, Meel Giri, Sang and Kabbadeh) and 4 weight wrestling championship, the 3rd Asian zurkhaneh sports championship came to the end with Iran’s champions (165), vice-champion of Tajikistan (146) and Iraq (105) for the third and Afghanistan for the fourth places (87).
The significant growth in qualitative and quantitative levels during the competitions, as well as the increasing scores for the bottom teams compared to previous competitions can be considered as a sign to alarm Iranian teams.
48 medals and the cup of the competitions were awarded to the champions by Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh – president of the International Zurkahneh Sport Federation (IZSF), Seyed Ramazan Shojaee Kiasari - vice president, And Seyyed Ali Hosseini, member of the Cultural Commission of Iranian Parliament , Mohamed Anwar Jakad Lak- president of the Asian Zurkahneh Sport Confederation and the minister president of the Youth and Sports Affairs in Afghanistan, Reza Aminian Toosi, Iranian ambassador in Dhaka, Ahmad DoniaMali- Treasurer, and Seyyed Amir Hosseini - secretary general of IZSF, heads of the African and European Confederations, directors and members of sports federations, and members and officials of Bangladesh sports.
Also, in the final day of competitions, the best Asian zurkhaneh athletes for 2010 were appreciated by presenting a cup and a commemoration.
The third Asian zurkhaneh sports championship was held by the Asian Zurkhaneh Sports Confederation with the collaboration of Bangladesh Wrestling Federation, and support of International Zurkaneh Sports Federation. The 1st championship was held on Nov. 2006 in Tehran, Iran. The 2nd championship was held in July, 2008 in Nepal.
Asia, Leader to Develop the Zurkaheeh Sports
The in the opening ceremony of the third Asian zurkhaneh sports championship, President of the International Zurkhaneh Sports referring to seven years activities of IZSF and continental confederations for introducing the Zurkahneh sports to 62 countries said: “With 24 active federations and members, Asia now is the leader to develop the Zurkhaneh sports across the world.”
“We hope to introduce the Zurkhaneh sports and its important message to more countries and increase the number of our members up to 70 countries”, he stated and claimed that the horizons on the international Zurkhaneh sports globalization are promising.
“IZSF developmental policies are followed based on three major approaches; strengthening the members and confederations, diversifying events, and collaborating with international institutions. To hold some training courses and support continental confederations are among the IZSF policies”, Mehr Alizadeh
added.
IZSF President thanked Bangladesh for worthy hosting the 3rd Asian Zurkhaneh Sports Championsip and said:” the 1st Asian Youth championship was of IZSF’s important programs in 2011 which was held in good
quality.”
Sport is a source to develop human relations
Hassan Aminian Toosi, the Iranian ambassador in Bangladesh, said:” Bangladesh has ample human potential and the presence of Iranian Zurkhaneh sports is a great opportunity to deepen the relationships between the two countries.”
“ With the support of the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation, Iranian Youth and Sports Ministry and the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, the sport will bloom more than ever”, he asserted.
Technical level of competition has increased
Referring to the great effort in order to hold the competitions in Bangladesh, Mohammad Anwar Jakd Lak stated: “the presence of 11 teams and 110 athletes is the sign of increasing qualitative and quantitative levels in this competition period, as compared to the past.”
Zurkhaneh is an eastern sport
In response to the question that why Bangladesh hosted the competetion, Jahan Shah Khan, president of the Bangladeshi wrestling federation, said:”Among the sports coming more from the West, the Zurkhaneh is an eastern sport and we think this sport is closely bond to our own cultural and physical characteristics, and is welcomed by people.”
Bangladesh Was a Welcoming Host
Seyyed Amir Hossieni, Secretary General of the International Zurkhaneh Sport Federation, considered Bangladesh a good host and said: “Bengalis were a good host for the competition. The opening ceremony was held decently, and Bangladesh could encourage the country’s authorities for a good presence. Attendance of 4 ministers and sufficient media coverage are among the positive points for Bangladesh in this tournament.”
About the participatiant teams and countries, Amir Hosseini said at the 4th meeting: “Presence of 15 countries in the Asian competition of Bangladesh was a great success. While representatives of 38 countries had participated in the fourth congress which was unique in its kind.”
On the quality level of competitions, secretary-General of the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation said: “ Due to the delay in the last year, we faced a defficiency. But, in general, Iranian team had a good performance, Tajik and Afghan teams, as expected, were also good. Moreover, Iraqis participated with their second team in the competition.” Dr. Amir Hosseini said: “Fortunately, it seems that Asian countries have reached independence level in terms of training and principles. This can be counted as a great success for the International Federation.”
